ReplyDeleteWe in the Femme Faction are organizing a femme-day during the celebration of Heterohatets dag (a day when we Gothenburg queers celebrate our resistance and hatred towards the heterosexual patriarchy).
We find it (obviously) extra important to have a whole day of celebrating us femmes and the political subversiveness of femme identities. Amongst other things we plan to have some sort of video/photo-installation about femme invisibility in the queer scene and we really hope you would like to participate and contribute! We started taking photos of ourselves with the text message saying “THIS IS WHAT A QUEER ACTIVIST LOOKS LIKE” as a response to the negative reactions we´ve had from our fellow queers who couldn´t quite grasp the concept of a queer identity that is not masculine! What we hope is that as many femme identified people as possible will do the same and send us their photos! Spread the word and remember that it need not look professional at all. Help us show how broad, diverse and femmetastic our queer movement really is!
Would you like to contribute even more maybe or do you know someone who does? Give a speech or a performance for example? Do you have any art/photos/fanzines you want to share and/or sell? We are open for any ideas so LET US KNOW! Of course we hope to see as many of you here as possible, but if you can´t make it just a photo or quote or whatever is a big help and very appreciated! But if you can make it we are sure we can arrange somewhere for you to sleep!
